Artifact: Cortland Cross Country Jack Daniels Invite Results & Bib # *

Date: Fall 2010

Reflection:  I began my running career in 8th grade, when I didn’t really know much about it.  As the years went by I became more involved in the sport and became a student of the sport.  I began learning about the different aspects of living a healthy lifestyle and really developed as an athlete, especially in the particular area of distance running.  In the fall of 2008, my freshman year the men’s SUNY Cortland team won the national championship.  My junior year I helped Cortland win the Jack Daniels tying for second place in a time of 19 minutes and 50 seconds on the 6 kilometer course.  From here on out I developed a true love for what I was doing.  Running countless miles through any type of weather in Cortland I learned so much.  I learned how to eat healthy, how to train smart, and how to develop as an athlete.  All of these traits I hope to teach many students as I hope to eventually coach cross country and track and field athletes.

Artifact: EXS 397 Body Composition Lab

Date: Fall 2011

Reflection:  Recently we completed a body composition lab in exercise physiology.  This was a new experience for me as I never done body fat measurements before.  I have heard of it but really wasn’t sure exactly how it was done so this was a fun day in lab.  Besides just doing skin fold measurements there was also a body composition analysis that was done completely underwater which was very interesting and fun to watch.  It is important as a physical educator to promote a healthy lifestyle.  When it comes to eating right and exercising, both have an impact on you so it is important to be educated about what is healthy.
