Impact on Student Learning

Element 5.2:  Use appropriate assessments to evaluate student learning before, during, and after instruction.

Artifact:  EDU 355 Curriculum Project

Date:  Spring 2011

Reflection:  Making the 355 Curriculum Project was very time consuming but had a lot of value in making it.  I collaborated with another student in my class to make a curriculum for the school we were doing our observation at.  We included appropriate assessments for different grade levels and both pre and post assessments.  This is a very important tool to know how to make for the future so I am glad I got the experience of how to make one.

Impact on Student Learning

Physical education teacher candidates utilize assessments and reflection to foster student learning and inform instructional decisions.

Element 5.3:  Select or create appropriate assessments that will measure student achievement of goals and objectives.

Reflection:  During my time of observation in 355 I learned so much.  I met with TJ Toteno, another physical education major and we would go to Harnett Elementary located in Truxton, NY.  We seemed to work very well together creating lesson plans and teaching lessons, doing assessments and even making a physical education curriculum.  One day we had the opportunity to observe a classroom setting rather then just the gymnasium setting I am used to.  I feel that this is very beneficial for the future as it is important to be working and communicating with other teachers in the building as well as be aware as what students are learning in the classroom.
