Artifact: PED 356 Letter to Parents

Date:  Fall 2011

Reflection: Communication is key when it comes to education.  I recently wrote a letter to the parents of the student from adapted physical education that I was instructing throughout the past semester.  I think that this is a great tool as it is very important to stay in touch with parents/guardians throughout the entire school year.  This is important to let them know how their student is doing in the class, whether it is good or bad.  Also by sending out letters to parents you can keep them informed about what is currently taking place in the physical education setting and what their children are learning.

Artifact:  EDU 256 Bulletin Board

Date:  Winter 2011

Reflection:  During my 60 hours field experience we were given the opportunity to make bulletin board for the entire school to see.  We chose which school we wanted to display it in, the high school or middle school.  I chose to display my bulletin board during my second set of observation at the middle school.  I talked to my host teacher about what they thought was a good idea and he gave me the opportunity to do what I wanted with it.  I chose to do it on basketball, badminton, and volleyball, the three units that were being taught during the time of my observation.  I also included information for their “Fitness Friday” that they did every Friday.  Finally I included, some information for the students to read based on their attitude, character, and level of respect.  I think most of the students enjoyed taking time to read it as some mentioned to me in class about the bulletin board.
