Standard 3

Planning and Implementation

Physical education teacher candidates plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with local, state, and national standards to address the diverse needs of all students.

Element 3.1:  Design and implement short and long-term plans that are linked to program and instructional goals as well as a variety of student needs.

Artifact:  PED 356 IEP

Date: Fall 2011

Reflection:  During my PED 356 experience I was able to learn so much regarding adapted physical education.  I learned what Individual Education Programs are and why it is important to develop short and long-term plans for students.  I also learned to develop IEP goals for these students based on their needs.  By writing Individual Education Programs during this class this gave me the experience to know how to write them if and most likely when I do as a future teacher.

Planning and Implementation

Physical education teacher candidates plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with local, state, and national standards to address the diverse needs of all students.

Element 3.7:  Plan and implement learning experiences that require students to appropriately use technology to meet lesson objectives.

Artifact:  PED 434 Track Lab

Date: Fall 2010

Reflection: During this lab the class had to use heart rate monitors and pedometers throughout to keep track of how hard each individual was working.  We used Microsoft excel to record our data after each event and trial.  Rate of perceived exertion was also used in this lab after each event.  I feel that technology definitely has a place in physical education and should be implemented into more lessons.  As a future physical educator I would like use heart rate monitors and pedometers in lessons I teach.  I feel that using technology in lessons adds a cognitive aspect to lessons, which is necessary in physical education.
